Imperial Valley Press Wins Best In Innovation
using Email Campaign Manager Software for Advertising, Circulation,
and News Promotion

Schurz Awards were presented Friday, March 3, to Schurz Communications
print property recipients at the fourth annual awards ceremony at the Grande
Registry Hotel in Naples, Fla. Winners were selected from nominees for
three news and sales categories.
Judges lauded the quality of the entries in the Best In Innovation:
competition. Each newspaper has done an admirable job of creating
innovative products, services, and processes, the judges commented.
There are many good ideas worthy of adopting. Each of the award winners
ideas would work to some extent in all of the Schurz Communication communities.
First place for Best In Innovation went to Victor Quinonez
and the sales staff at the Imperial Valley Press for its online marketing
techniques. The IV Press won for using Email Campaign Manager Software
(from mass2one) creatively across a number of departments with e-mail marketing
producing record-breaking advertising revenue for the Chamber of Commerce
directory, selling new and renewing past ads ad for special sections, increasing
classified ad renewal and revenue, promoting upcoming newspaper content,
and managing relationships with subscribers. E-mail marketing generated
over $110,000 in revenue in 2005.
The Imperial Valley Press daily 14,309 and Sunday 15,263
is based in El Centro, California, one of California's last great open
spaces. The Imperial Valley is less than 2 hours to San Diego to the west
and Palm Springs to the north. Only 15 minutes south is the Mexican border
and the Baja California capital city of Mexicali. The Imperial Valley Press
has worked with mass2one LLC and used Email Campaign Manager Software since
2004. mass2one LLC has helped The IV Press develop a consumer opt-in e-mail
database of more than 16,000 as well as an advertiser and ad prospect opt-in
e-mail database of 1,000 with each business tied to a specific ad sales
rep.
