March 27, 2001

Tim Gustin, Chief Operating Officer, mass2one, announced today that the company has established a beta software testing agreement with the American Press Institute (API). Under the terms of the agreement, API will use Email Campaign Manager software to develop and implement a number of communications, membership-development and customer service applications for seminars serving the newspaper industry.

"We believe e-mail outreach and mass2one's Email Campaign Manager software can help us further extend our communications capabilities," reports William L. Winter, API's president and executive director. "We especially are interested in the multi-step campaign capabilities provided by the software to support our ongoing outreach efforts to newspaper executives." Initial plans call for API to use Email Campaign Manager software to send targeted communications and research instruments to their seminar participants.

"The American Press Institute is a leader in online communications and we value the opportunity to assist them in further enhancing their outreach capabilities," reports Gustin. "We are excited about working with API to continue to enhance their permission-based email capabilities."

mass2one helps businesses and non-profit organizations integrate permission-based email into their marketing, sales, and service mix to lower costs, improve results and increase revenue. The company's first product, Email Campaign Manager software, combines a relational database with a proprietary email engine, campaign development tool and response manager that allows users to create and track multi-step email communications programs.

Founded by newspaper publishers in 1946, the American Press Institute is the oldest and largest center devoted solely to training and leadership development for the news industry and journalism educators. The Institute, housed in a Marcel Breuer-designed building in Reston, Virginia, conducts more than 30 residential seminars a year for journalists, sales, marketing and management professionals in print, broadcast, cable and digital media companies.
